Stat-wisem IDS are only half as good as the Droknar weaponcrafter's longsword, and a great deal more difficult to obtain. Removing the perfect mods would serve no purpose at all except to alienate the people who paid heaps of platinum for one. They're just a novelty item.

Not true...Remember that the "Icy" is one mod, so if you add a second mod then make yourself a Wa/Ele and add conjure frost you now have a very powerful weapon!

Anyhoo I'm praying they keep dropping. I really would like one for my warrior, just to match the fiery (even though I never use it lol). I doubt they'd remove those that people have though; even if they stop the drops I imagine if you were lucky enough to get one they're not gonna risk pissing you off by taking it away. Plus its not like its an uber-sword or anything. Candy Canes I could understand them removing, but not a rare skin dragon sword.

I think his point is you can construct a sword with the same mod, but I bet that IDS skin attracts a lot of players, not it's mod.

i swear to god if they remove the swords i would be very mad.. i have modded mine with a 19% enchant.. i would not be a happy camper if they remove the sword with that on it

Someone posted pics of them talking to Gale in game stating that they would probably stop dropping after this year but not removed. Again like someone has said their just a novelty item really.

OK, April Fools is an international event, but we're still no where near April

My sole point: There's no reason to globally destroy IDS's... they have no known exploitable bugs causing any in-game balance issues.

IDS random stat drops seem more feasible than leaving it 15>50 req.9. Let's all stop guessing and let ANET do its thing.

So far it's unclear if they will stop dropping after wintersday. She wasn't able to find out because the office was closed.

the only reason why its so good, is because only the experienced can farm them, and they are hard to reach,

they will discontinue drops. the mods will be left alone.

Lol, everyone knows Gaile is more of PR person and dosen't play like a fanboy like you guys right? She had a million questions fired at her per second and answered more than a few times that she "didn't know" and would have to check with the development team when she got back into the office (after the event.)

The item is permenant, no questions, you can pay me 1 ecto per person who thinks they are gonna be not droping after wintersday, and if for some reason they stop, I will pay each of you 1 ecto each. Fair Nuff?

Yes, yes, and yes.

I have spoken to GG in-game about this TWICE, and the IDS is a new item that is a permanent addition to the game. It was actually added BEFORE the Xmas event (did you know that?)

Where and when and in what form it drops after WintersDay MAY change, but you won't lose the ones you have, and it WILL continue to be available - probably MORE widely available than now.

So please RELAX!!!!!

I wasn't saying you shouldn't, I was just reasoning why it would be pointless to nerf the perfect stats on the IDS.

I'm pledging now that if IDS is removed after the Wintersday theme, I will injure a child for every sword lost.

Of course, I don't belive it'll come to that. I believe the IDS's will continue to drop after Wintersday based on common sense, and as it was pointed out before, the swords were dropping before the winter theme started. Of course I also believed that HoD swords would always be available...

I hedged my bets anyways. I paid 60K for an IDS (not a horrible price) and now either one of two things will happen: they keep dropping, in which case I'll resell my sword for about the same price I paid for it and find a new one at my leisure....or they'll stop dropping, in which case I'll keep it for 6 months and then sell it for 300K. Even if you think IDS's are stupid, it's hard to disagree with my strategy. I don't trust ANet not to screw us around anymore you know.
